The Phoenix optical sensor is uniquely qualified to solve the application of non-contact measuring of geometrical features on sheet metal components, providing better accuracy and higher throughput when compared with traditional probing methods. Phoenix is a hybrid system, consisting of a high resolution CCD camera for image processing in the X-Y plane and multiple laser triangulation for measuring the Z position. The Laser triangulation takes place in two orthogonal directions, which negates the need for an expensive 6 axis. An LED ring light homogeneously illuminates the measured feature. An extremely narrowband holographic filter prevents parasite light affecting both systems and therefore increases the reliability of the measuring results.
